Modeling the line variations from the wind-wind shock emissions of WR 30a

چکیده
The study of Wolf-Rayet stars plays an important role in evolutionary theories of massive stars. Among these objects, ∼ 20% are known to be in binary systems and can therefore be used for the mass determination of these stars. Most of these systems are not spatially resolved and spectral lines can be used to constrain the orbital parameters. However, part of the emission may originate in the interaction zone between the stellar winds, modifying the line profiles and thus challenging us to use different models to interpret them. In this work, we analyzed the HeIIλ4686Å + CIVλ4658Å blended lines of WR30a (WO4+O5) assuming that part of the emission originate in the wind-wind interaction zone. In fact, this line presents a quiescent base profile, attributed to the WO wind, and a superposed excess, which varies with the orbital phase along the 4.6 day period. Under these assumptions, we were able to fit the excess spectral line profile and central velocity for all phases, except for the longest wavelengths, where a spectral line with constant velocity seems to be present. The fit parameters provide the eccentricity and inclination of the binary orbit, from which it is possible to constrain the stellar masses.

Modeling Forbidden Line Emission Profiles from Colliding Wind Binaries
This paper presents calculations for forbidden emission line profile shapes arising from colliding wind binaries. The main application is for systems involving a Wolf-Rayet (WR) star and an OB star companion. The WR wind is assumed to dominate the forbidden line emission. The colliding wind interaction is treated as an archimedean spiral with an inner boundary. Under the assumptions of the mode...
متن کاملA New Method to Study Aggregation Effect of Harmonic Current Emissions in a Wind Farm Based on Type-III Wind Turbine Average Modeling
Assessment of complex harmonic current contribution of each wind turbines at connection point of a wind farm to the grid (primary emission) is presented in this paper. Moreover, contribution of grid background harmonic voltage distortion on harmonic current distortion (secondary emission) of each turbine is also evaluated. Both assessments are represented based on primary and secondary transfer...
متن کاملHydrodynamic model atmospheres for WR stars: Self-consistent modeling of a WC star wind
We present the first non-LTE atmosphere models for WR stars that incorporate a self-consistent solution of the hydrodynamic equations. The models account for iron-group line-blanketing and clumping, and compute the hydrodynamic structure of a radiatively driven wind consistently with the non-LTE radiation transport in the co-moving frame. We construct a self-consistent wind model that reproduce...
متن کاملNear IR Spectroscopic monitoring of WR 140 during the 2001 periastron passage
We present new spectra of WR 140 (HD 193793) in the JHK bands with some covering the 1.083-μm He i emission line at higher resolution, observed between 2000 October and 2003 May to cover its 2001 periastron passage and maximum collidingwind activity. The WC7 + O4-5 spectroscopic binary WR 140 is the prototype of colliding-wind, episodic dust-making Wolf-Rayet systems which also show strong vari...
متن کاملXMM - Newton X - ray Observations of the Wolf - Rayet Binary System WR 147
We present results of a ≈20 ksec X-ray observation of the Wolf-Rayet (WR) binary system WR 147 obtained with XMM-Newton. Previous studies have shown that this system consists of a nitrogen-type WN8 star plus an OB companion whose winds are interacting to produce a colliding wind shock. X-ray spectra from the pn and MOS detectors confirm the high extinction reported from IR studies and reveal ho...
